About Bruce Barker

Mr. Barker is a member of the American Society of Home Inspectors (ASHI). He is Chair of
the Society's national Standards of Practice Committee and has served on the Society's
Technical Committee. Mr. Barker is a frequent contributor of technical articles to the Society's
monthly magazine, The ASHI Reporter, and to other publications. He is also the author of
The Black & Decker Guide to Codes for Homeowners. Mr. Barker is a member of the
International Code Council and of the Independent Home Inspectors of North America.

Mr. Barker graduated Cum Laude from the Indiana University School of Business with a
degree in Accounting. He also received an MBA in information systems from Indiana, and
studied law at the Indiana University Law School. He is a member of the Beta Alpha Psi and
Beta Gamma Sigma academic honor societies. Mr. Barker spent his early career as a
consultant with Peat Marwick (now KPMG), an international public accounting and consulting
firm, and owned of one of the first computer stores in the Midwest.

Bruce A. Barker is President of Dream Home Consultants, LLC.,
a Phoenix, Arizona based building inspection and consulting firm.
During over 22 years in the construction and building inspection
industry, he has built more than 100 custom homes. He has also
inspected more than 2,000 homes ranging from homes built in
the early 1900's to new homes. Mr. Barker is certified by the
International Code Council as a Residential Combination
Inspector, is a licensed contractor in Arizona and Florida, and is
certified as an infrared thermographer.
